Clothing Distribution
NCJW Pittsburgh has a long history of providing clothing to kids and families in need. From our legacy Back 2 School Store and Kids Community Closets programs, to our current Free Kids Clothing and Thriftique Voucher Program, we have distributed thousands of outfits to local Pittsburgh area kids. Our current clothing distrubtion programs are:
Free Kids Clothing
Free Kids Clothing at Thriftique seeks to provide children’s clothing in a spirit of mutual aid, in a highly accessible way, both reducing waste and providing clothing to families, childcare workers, teachers, social workers, and others who often need to pay for these items out of their own pockets. The Free Kids Clothing program is a collaboration between Thriftique and MomsWork, Powered by NCJW Pittsburgh. This program is made possible by the generous donors of clothing and accessories for children aged newborn to 14 years old. This welcoming area has a reading nook, puzzle and activity shelves, and a toy area. All the items in the program are offered at no cost to any families who can benefit.

Thriftique Voucher Program
For more than a decade, NCJW has offered direct support to the Pittsburgh community through the Thriftique Clothing Voucher Program, intended to help women who are in financial transition; often those who are entering or reentering the workforce and are in need of proper attire. In recent years, the program has expanded to provide both clothing and needed household items, for a diverse clientele. The program operates in partnership with area organizations and agencies that maintain ongoing relationships with people in need or transition. During our 2023 program, we distributed vouchers to 11 area partners.
How Can I Get a Voucher?
NCJW partner organizations can request a Thriftique Voucher on criteria determined by the recipient agency. NCJW does not participate in the decision-making process of who receives the vouchers once they distributed to the partner agencies; however, we trust that they consider the best interest of the client, host agency, and NCJW when deciding who will receive the greatest benefit from the program.
Vouchers are valid only at Thriftique and can be used for clothing, shoes and accessories. Vouchers are not applicable to Designer Days sales. Furniture, linens, small appliances and tableware are acceptable purchases if a client is in need due to an emergency situation. In the spirit of community care, we ask that when possible clients should be accompanied to Thriftique by a partner agency staff member.
