MomsWork, Powered by NCJW Pittsburgh

What is MomsWork?

MomsWork, formerly known as Center for Women, is a program powered by NCJW Pittsburgh. This program continues the important work of empowering women who seek financial wellbeing, community, and resources through a strengthened focus on moms.

We recognize that all moms work. MomsWork encourages, inspires, and supports moms to earn a paycheck and search for new employment - all while they manage their families’ evolving needs.

MomsWork provides support in three key ways:

  • Education - MomsWork offers a variety of educational content designed to increase personal and professional financial wellbeing.

  • Networking - There are over 500 people in our private MomsWork network on LinkedIn - a community created to share open employment opportunities, share insider perspectives, and discuss issues affecting working mothers. Join us there!

  • Advocacy - All MomsWork advocacy efforts focus on improving the lives of working families. Currently, MomsWork is centered around advocacy related to strengthening and stabilizing child care, including improving access, increasing affordability, and ensuring fair compensation for early childhood educators.

MomsWork also helps connect individual mothers to resources needed to advocate for themselves to their employers and legislators for improved working conditions, including flexible work schedules, remote work, paid sick leave, lactation rooms, and paid family leave.

Working Moms Support Group

MomsWork offers a Working Moms Support Group twice a month. These small, in-person groups give working moms, including moms seeking employment, the opportunity to be empowered, network, and share strategies and resources in a safe, judgment free environment. The sessions are facilitated by a licensed therapist and free childcare is provided. Sign up here!

Testimonials:

It was such a validating and kind group, I felt connected in a way I haven’t to other women at all since my daughter was born. I was so grateful for the experience, and that there was no cost to participate.
I feel so alone and unsupported most of the time, but coming to this group makes me feel like I’m starting to find my village: it’s a lifeline in a very difficult chapter of my career and motherhood.
As a new parent about to re-enter the workforce, I have been in desperate need for support and hearing other mothers’ stories of how they’ve gotten through it. I did not have that until going to the Working Moms Support Group, and am so glad I found it. I feel much lighter and more capable of transitions with my family.
